The WOW user interface is fully customizable and therefore, modifiable. This is completely legal, and is encouraged by Blizzard. Usually "Mods" tend to refer to smaller things that only modify existing functionality of the user interface, whereas AddOns tend to add extra functionality.
The following is a list of WOW addons/mods that you may be interested in utilizing.
If you have any additional mods you think are helpful in general or for your specific class, make a reply to this post or private message me and I'll update this list. There is most likely someone else that would love to use the same mod you do. It makes it easier if we can keep all the mods listed in one area instead of spread around in various forums.
Usually AddOns are distributed as ZIP files by their authors, and you "install" them by simply unzipping them into the following folder:
\World of Warcraft\Interface\AddOns\. Most addons will unzip into their own unique folder
(e.g., \Interface\AddOns\Atlas).You can always uninstall any AddOn by simply exiting WOW and deleting the specific folder you unzipped into your \AddOns folder (e.g., \Atlas).
Remember to frequently check for updates to your favorite mods as most author's release new versions with new functionality and bug fixes. This is especially true when new WOW content patches are released. Many mods become disabled, but they can be turned on temporarily in the WOW addons interface. It's also possible to edit the .toc mod file (e.g., patch 1.12=Interface Version:12000) so that it is considered a current version (you don't have to check "Load Out of Date Addons" to get mod to work.
